Back to Black: Vogue Italia and 'The Black Allure'

Just in time for Black History Month, Vogue Italia releases its latest all black everything issue with The Black Allure. Under the direction of Franca Sozzani, Italian Vogue continues with its all-black monochromatic theme featuring notables Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn, Melodie Monrose, Ajak Deng, Arlenis Sosa, Sessilee Lopez, Rose Cordero, Georgie Badiel and Mia Aminata Niaria. Styled by Edward Enninful, the ladies look amazing, donning gorgeous frocks from Lanvin, Givenchy, Jil Sander and others.  While I appreciate Vogue Italia's attempts at promoting diversity, I worry that featuring solo-raced editorials will create an almost separate but equal atmosphere within the industry, instead of fostering an inclusive fashion environment. What do you think?

Rose Cordero for Numero Magazine

Rose Cordero gets a touch of jungle fever in a sexy tropically inspired editiorial for Numero. Set in a lush  South African rainforest and styled by BelĂ©n Casadevall, Rose brings the heat in bold looks from Kenzo, Dior and Givenchy.

Zoe Saldana in Alexander McQueen

Zoe Saldana, along with her sis Cicely, were spotted at the "Shape What’s To Come" cocktail party which was held during the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The Avatar Star stunned, pairing high and low styles in Levi's topped off with an Alexander McQueen jacket.

Pop 'Africana - A Look At Fashion in Africa

Slowly, but surely, the fashion magazine industry is leaning towards projecting images that reflect and celebrate the diversity of the world we live in.  But while they take their sweet time, I have taken it upon myself to find  and promote those blogs, ezines, and other publications that are already offering a glimpse into cultures and lifestyles that traditionally fly under the radar.  What I see in my everyday life, I'd like to see reflected in the programs I watch and the magazines I read.  Enter Pop Africana:

Pop’Africana is a bi-annual fashion and art publication dedicated to delivering a rejuvenated image of Africans. We are based in New York City. Our aim throughout popafricana.com is to foster interactive (critical and fun) dialogue with our readers on a more frequent basis and in the process introduce them to the beautiful, the stylish and the new. Here, you will find how diverse Pop’Africana is in its presentation and sources of inspiration. popafricana.com is our opportunity to share the inclusive vision we have for Africa and Africans wherever they may be — a vision that we hope will continue to engage and inspire.  (Pop Africana

L.A.M.B Plum Wedge Pump for Less

For $275, you can get these glam L.A.M.B.'s "Plum" wedge heels at Piperlime.

But, Forever 21 offers a way more affordable version for a mere $25.80! I don't know about fit and quality, but for the price of a tube of lip gloss, why not get a few wears out of this shoe for trend's sake!
